The Clarke County High School Royal Band of Blue is off to a good start for the 2007-2008 school year. New officers were elected for the Booster Club: Robin Dial, President; Ronnie Slaughter, Vice President; Lizzetta McConnell, Secretary; George Jones, Treasurer; John Conner Jr., Band Director.

The band has recruited 24 new members and has added rifle drills and the Royal Dazzlers Dance Team. The drill teams attended local camps for two weeks of training, and four band members traveled to Tuscaloosa to attend the Stillman College Band Camp for one week.

The CCHS Band Camp was held July 23-31. The band was honored to have State Representative Marc Keahey as a guest speaker on day two of the band camp. Keahey was a sponsor of one of the students who attended the Stillman camp.

The CCHS band has been working really hard all summer preparing for the fall halftime shows. The band members would like to thank everyone who makes it possible to continue their band pride. Band Director Conner especially wishes to acknowledge and appreciate all the hard work and commitment of the students, parents and CCHS faculty.
