Local writer places second in state contest for nonfiction

Annell Gordon won a certificate and check as prizes for second place in the Non-fiction category of the Alabama Writers Conclave contest.

The piece entitled "The Mentor" details her experiences as a firsttime teacher and what she learned from one of her students.

Members of the Grove Hill Writers Club who also attended the 2007 Conclave July 19-21 in Auburn Alabama included Jim Herod, Susie Kennedy, and Hazel Garrick.
