GH mayor says people must grow county seat

Mayor Lamar Hudson said he is looking for a "slow, progressive growth" in Grove Hill. The mayor and council should not force the issue. "The people have to grow it."

He gave the example of a proposed subdivision of 27 houses, three-and-a half-acre lots off Highway 84 West. "She [property owner Mae Carole Hill] is in the process of trying to get enough signatures to be annexed," the mayor said. "To me, that's the way it should happen. We [town officials] shouldn't go out there and say we are going to annex you.

"…The last two times the mayor has tried to annex….You can't do it that way." You have to have support of the people, the mayor said.
