Open House at CPS

Clarke Preparatory School will have Open House

Thursday, (tonight), Aug. 9 from 6 until 8 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and meet the new headmaster, Mr. Walker and new teachers.

HIV group meets Friday

The Area 9 HIV Prevention Group will have its monthly meeting Friday, Aug. 10 at 11 a.m. in the Monroe County Health Department building, adjacent to the Alabama Southern Community College campus in Monroeville. Anyone who is interested in preventing the spread of HIV and raising awareness about this affliction, is invited to attend. Snodgrass reunion planned

GHMH blood drive set

Grove Hill Memorial Hospital will have a blood drive

Monday, Aug. 13 from 12 noon until 6 p.m. in the bloodmobile. T-shirts and cholesterol screening to all donors. For more information contact Emily Steadham at 251-275-3191. Celebrate Life...donate blood.

BTAS fall registration set

Ballet & Theatre Arts School announces fall 2007 registration on Tuesday, Aug. 14 from 4 until 6 p.m. The BTAS Theatre is located at 253 College Street in Gilbertown. Performing Arts Classes will start Tuesday, Sept. 4. If you miss or can't make registration please call Fred Kimbrough at 251-843-5138.

ADC meeting set

The Alabama Democratic Conference (ADC) monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. at the NAACP (National Advancement Association of Colored People) building on Carter Street in Grove Hill. Johnnie Byrd is the chairman. For more information call 251-363-3838.

Clarke County DHR meeting

Clarke County DHR Board meeting will be Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 3:30 p.m. in the board room. The DHR building is located at 22609 Highway 84 in Grove Hill. This will be a quarterly meeting. Lou I. Boykin is the director.

SAIA to meet

Southwest Alabama Improvement Association will meet Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. at Jackson Steakhouse. The guest speaker will be Rev. T.L. Douglas of the Clarke County Board of Education, District 4. He will give an update on the Board of Education activities along with a question and answer period. Areas of interest include school reform, truancy, rural housing development, career/employment opportunities, health care disparities, legal readiness, voter education/awareness, public service accountability, as well as youth and senior citizens concerns. SWAIA is a non-profit organization committed to promoting community unity/impowerment and improving the quality of life for individuals in Southwest Alabama counties of Clarke, Washington, Choctaw, Marengo, Wilcox, Monroe, Conecuh, Escambia, Butler, Baldwin and Mobile. Hospital Auxiliary meeting set

The Grove Hill Memorial Hospital Auxiliary meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 22 at 9 a.m. in the conference room. The guest speaker will be Dr. Stacey Goode, a family practice physician, working the E.R. The topic will be Women's Health issues. Everyone is invited.

Parden family reunion

The Parden family reunion will be Saturday, Sept. 1 at the Bethel Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Coffeeville.

WHHS Class of 1968

The Wilson Hall High School Class of 1968 will celebrate its 39th year reunion beginning Friday, Oct. 19 through Saturday, Oct. 21, 2007 in Grove Hill.
