E-911center aids in finding lost USDA rep A representative from the U.S. Department of Agriculture was lost a few weeks ago near the Carlton community in southern Clarke County. He was found thanks to the dispatchers of the county E- 911 office. "He used his cell phone," said E- 911 Coordinator Becky Neugent at the Aug. 13 board meeting, "and we used our new (geographic information system) mapping…and were able to locate him within an hour. "…The mapping system is working as it should." In other action from Monday's meeting, finishing touches will be made to the office's communication and computer aided dispatch system next week. "ACJIC (The Alabama Criminal Justice System Information Center) is very particular about the type of networks you go on," she said. "You have to provide a network diagram as to who is going to use the system." The company even wanted the criminal histories and fingerprints of officials with the Global Software CAD program before it could get connected to the system. "There were a lot of requirements that I was not aware of," Neugent said. • Clarke County E-911 answered 1,262-911 calls in June, responded to 890 calls for service, ran 546 tag numbers and 861 driver's license numbers. • The Jackson Police Department answered 159-911 calls.
• The Thomasville Police Department answered 224-911 calls.
