No details on cost of MAC repairing cut highway bridge over Satilpa Creek on 69

Barricades came down Saturday when the bridge reopened to traffic.
Satilpa Creek relief bridge on Highway 69 south of Coffeeville was reopened Saturday afternoon, according to Jim Henley, construction engineer with the Grove Hill division of the Alabama Department of Transportation.

A Mobile Asphalt Company crew, cutting up the old asphalt Aug. 13, cut right through a section of the bridge before realizing the error.

The heavy duty saw cut right down the center of the concrete decked bridge for about 20 feet or so on its southern end. The mishap prompted the closing of the bridge and the highway.

Wallace McAdory, maintenance engineer for the Alabama Department of Transportation in Grove Hill said the cut was about six inches deep, almost through the concrete decking of the bridge.

Despite calls to ALDOT, Mobile Asphalt Company, ABC Cutting Contractors of Alabama in Daphne and RSI Remedial Services of Mobile, no one could give an actual cost of the repair.
