Coffeeville PD maning safety checkpoints

Coffeeville Police Department will be making special efforts to enforce traffic laws and highway safety through Labor Day, Sept. 3. "We will be setting up traffic checkpoints and we will be checking for speeding, DUIs and seat belts," Coffeeville Police Chief Clint Harrell said.

Harrell and Officer Steve Carlisle will be spending extra hours on patrol as well and will coordinate with the Clarke County Sheriff's Department and Alabama State Troopers to man the traffic checkpoints. The extra manpower needed for the operation is being funded by a $1,800 grant from the Alabama Department of Economic Development and Community Affairs (ADECA).
