Clarke County Leadership beings new class for 2007

Local business and industry leaders nominated individuals from their organizations to participate in Leadership Clarke County. As members of the leadership class the participants will be part of an exciting process which offers great promise for Clarke County.

There are a total of 26 adult and 7 youth participants. This type of program has been very successful in identifying leaders statewide and in other counties. During the year, the participants will attend seven day-long seminars on specific topics including Leadership Skills Development, Community Development, Economic Development, Education, Healthcare, Local and State Government.

Leadership Clarke County is dedicated to developing potential leadership in our County. Class Development committee chairmen LaShaunda Holly says, "We are excited about working with this class as we meet and begin working for a better future for Clarke County. We look forward to an outstanding program with our local citizens serving an important role."

"Our goal for the year is to make our class aware of the challenges and opportunities that our county is facing. Once they successfully complete the program, they will be encouraged to take leadership roles in organizations in the county."

The participants met for Orientation last week at Headquarters in Jackson, Alabama. Holly says, "We certainly want to thank Buddy Skipper for allowing us the opportunity to meet at the facility." The objective of Orientation was to provide an opportunity for the participants to become better acquainted with their class members and to value their differences as the Leadership Clarke County "Team". The participants were engaged in several team building activities.

Leadership Clarke County is an affiliate of The Clarke County Development Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to Community Development.
