Caught: Chase ends with capture of fugitive
The incident began around 5:45 p.m., when Jimmerson, who was wanted on drug charges in both Clarke and Baldwin Counties, interrupted a drug sting in the Jackson Wal-Mart parking lot by Task Force One agents Lem DuBose and Michael Hunt. The officers had staked out an area of the parking lot and were in the process of arresting Angela and James Moseley on drug charges when Jimmerson approached the scene in his vehicle. Jimmerson fled the scene, heading north on U.S. Highway 43, pursued by the agents and Jackson police officers Ben Marshall and Jonathan Downey. The chase came to a halt when Jimmerson's vehicle collided with a pickup truck at the intersection of Highway 43 and McVay Road, causing his automobile to overturn. As a result, the pickup truck crashed into a small car driven by Kip Cade, 29, of Thomasville. Cade was injured in the crash and transported by JETS ambulance to Jackson Medical Center for treatment. But, the chase did not end there. Once Jimmerson's car stopped on its top, he crawled from the vehicle and fled on foot into the woods, pursued by Agent DuBose and Officer Downey. The officers chased the suspect for approximately 300 yards until he was apprehended.
As a result, in addition to the pending drug charges, Jimmerson now also faces charges of reckless driving, no insurance, attempting to elude, driving while licensed revoked, resisting arrest, failure to follow police instructions, felony leaving the scene of an accident, violation of probation and reckless endangerment.
