Rumors rampant on JHS incident An incident of bullying that involved several students at Jackson High School, Aug. 21, has had people talking for more than a week, creating rumors about what occurred. According to JHS Principal Ken Harbuck and Clarke County Superintendent of Schools Gerald Stephens, no one was injured in the incident, but several students were suspended as a result of their actions. Harbuck stated that the incident involved three students and took place in the gym area of the school. He said no one was hung up or beaten severly as has been rumored. One rumor, which the principal said was totally false, involved the victim being beaten with barbells. "The student who was being bullied had just recovered from a broken arm and was taken by his parents to have the arm x-rayed," said Harbuck. "No new injuries were discovered." Harbuck went on to say that the incident was immediately investigated by school officials and dealt with swiftly. "This situation was taken very seriously and we handled it," he said. "No police nor ambulances were called to the school."
Jackson Police Chief confirmed Harbuck and Stephens' statements by saying that the incident was not reported to his department.
