CCHS, other area teams get started

Clarke County played T.R. Miller tough last season but lost 21- 6. They go to Brewton Friday night. At right Jackson and Leroy tangle Thursday night. The Bears won 41-6 in 2006.
The Alabama High School Athletic Association member schools start the 2007 football beginning Thursday night.

In this area it starts with a bang on both ends of the county.

To the north Thomasville goes to Sweet Water for the ir annual battle. The Bulldogs are the defending Class 1A champ and Thomasville is the runner-up in 4A.

With the television cameras rolling, south Alabama will get a taste of this game that everyone else already knows.

The Battle of the Tombigbee will be going on in the south end on Thursday night as well.

It is a spring board game for the winner while the loser usually needs a few games to get back on track. This year's game should be actionpacked and the outcome may not be decided until the last possession.

Clarke County High travels to Brewton to play T.R. Miller Friday night.

CCHS enters the game ranked in the top-10 in 3A while Miller is unranked for the first time in a decade.

If someone is planning on knocking off Miller, then an early season date is when you do that.

Coffeeville travels to Thomaston and Marengo hosts John Essex in the other games involving area AHSAA programs.

All games start at 7 p.m.
