A 14-year-old juvenile was arrested Sept. 5 for the break-in of a home in Fulton. Ethel May Jefferson returned from work to her home at 169 Regency Drive. After approximately 10 to 15 minutes, she discovered a juvenile in her bedroom, according to Fulton Police Chief Larry Hicks.

The suspect covered his face with his shirt so his identity would not be discovered. Law enforcement received the call at approximately 2:20 p.m. A state trooper and officials with the Clarke County Sheriff's Department and the Grove Hill Police Department responded to the scene.

The suspect fled into the woods. Private-owned dogs were brought in by Paul Newton and Ronnie Nelson to track down the suspect, Chief Hicks said. Deputy Jim Mundie and Chief Investigator Ron Baggette helped with the search. Baggette discovered a foot track.

The juvenile, who was from the Fulton area, was apprehended shortly inside a neighbor's house.

Nothing was found missing from Jefferson's home.

The suspect was taken to the Clarke County Jail. Officials met with his parents and grandparents, Hicks said. He was remanded to the youth facility in Bay Minette. A hearing was held Sept. 7, and judge turned the suspect back over to his parents.

The court case is set for October.
