Command Sgt. Major Dennis King to be assigned to Fort Hood The Army released the 2007 Senior Army NCOs promotion results on Aug. 21, out of the 3,618 records reviewed only 773 were recommended for promotion, and to attend the Sergeant Major's Academy. Enlisted Soldiers who are selected to become a Command Sergeant Major are the epitome of success in their chosen career field. One of those Soldiers selected for appointment to the rank of Command Sergeant Major is a native of Gosport; Sergeant Major Dennis James King, son of Lorenzo and Ella King. "I give all the credit to my success over the past 26 years to my parents, my family who have supported me throughout my career, my mentors who taught me to become the Soldier that I am and to God for guiding my footsteps and protecting me. "I am currently stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. There I am working as the 82nd Airborne Division Assistant G3 Sergeant Major. My major mission is to represent the 82nd Airborne Division by paying final tributes to our fallen Soldiers who were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan and to honor the sacrifice of their families.
"With this promotion also comes a move. On Nov. 10, I will move to Fort Hood, Texas. There I will assume the duties of a Command Sergeant Major of an Infantry Battalion Combat Unit."
