Hayes

Arthur Earl Hayes Sr., 69, of Douglasville, Ga. died Sept. 5, 2007.

He was born Jan. 13, 1938 in Bibb County, Ala. He was a maintenance supervisor with LaFarge Company for 41 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shrine Temple and Central Baptist Church. Earl loved to cook and have family gatherings. He was an outdoorsman that loved hunting, fishing and traveling.

Survivors include his wife, LaJuana Hayes, Douglasville, Ga.; one son, Earl (Laura) Hayes Jr., Canton, Ga.; one daughter, Phyllis Timms, Austell, Ga.; a stepson, James E. Williams Jr., Columbus, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Mary Shoemaker, Doulgasville, Ga., Cynthia Baethke, Trussville; two brothers, Tom Hayes, Tuscaloosa, Leslie Hayes, Buchannan, Ga.; four sisters, Jean (Hanson) Leach, Jemison, Linda (Mike) Breedlove, Jackson, Cheryl (David) Tatum, Powder Springs, Ga.; two grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W.G. and Jessie Crenshaw Hayes and a brother, Rudy Hayes.

The service was Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. at Central Baptist Church with Revs. Garry Eudy and Charles Gibbs officiating. Burial was in the Central Baptist Church Cemetery. Whitley Garner at Rosehaven Memorial Park, Funerals and Cremations directed.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 17 Executive Park, Suite 115, Atlanta, Ga. 30329.
