Historical Society to meet

The Clarke County Historical Society will meet Sunday, Sept. 23 at 2:30 p.m. at the Grove Hill United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. The speaker for the meeting will be Mrs. Marilyn Culpepper. Mrs. Culpepper, who grew up in Grove Hill, is the executive director of the Mobile Historic Preservation Society. The Mobile Historic Preservation Society was founded in 1935, and operates and maintains the Oakleigh Historic Complex. Please note that the date is one week earlier than the regular meeting date. The public is invited to attend.

VFW Post to meet

VFW Post 5106 and its ladies auxiliary will have its regular monthly meeting Monday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. All members are urged to come to this important meeting.

Fulton Fire and Rescue fall gospel singing set

Fulton Volunteer Fire and Rescue Annual Fall Gospel Singing will be Saturday, Oct. 6 in downtown Fulton from 3:30 p.m. until. Local talent includes: Bridgette Shewmake, Darlene Phillips, Donald Pugh, Warren Harrell, Wayne Campbell, Rev. and Scotty, Centurions Quartet, Dixie Disciples, Grateful Heart, Glory Road Quartet and the Good News Quartet. In case of rain the singing will be held in the Fulton School Auditorium. There will be a cake auction and door prizes. Bring a chair.

Coffeeville Fireman's ball set

The Fourth Annual Coffeeville Fireman's Ball will be Saturday, Oct. 6 from 6 p.m. - until at the Coffeeville High School auditorium. Tickets will be $50 per couple and $25 single, also includes dinner and entertainment. It is a semiformal event. GHMH bridge benefit set

The annual Grove Hill Memorial Hospital's Auxiliary Bridge Benefit will be Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Southern Magnolia from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. With the purchase of a $25 ticket, the holder will be eligible to win a $500 gift certificate from The Gift Gallery.

West fundraiser

Members of the Helwestern Volunteer Fire Department are taking orders for Boston butts and slabs of ribs. Proceeds will benefit cancer patient Jeffery West. The Boston butts are $25 each and the ribs are $17 per slab. They can be picked up Friday, Oct. 19 at the fire station. Contact any member of the Helwestern Volunteer Fire Department to place an order or for more information.

WHHS Class of 1968

The Wilson Hall High School Class of 1968 has moved the date of its 39th year class reunion from Oct. 19-21, 2007 to the following year, (2008) to coincide with its 40th year. A date will soon be announced. Peterman Festival set

The 24th annual Peterman Station Arts and Crafts Festival will be Saturday, Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. in downtown Peterman, six miles north of Monroeville. The festival is sponsored by the Peterman Historical Society. Booth space at 12' x 12' will be $45 without electricity and $50 with. No admission will be charged. CCHS reserve seats for sale

Anyone who wishes to reserve seats for the C.C.H.S. football season should contact Ann Baugh at 251-275-3368 or 334-636-2338. The cost per seat is $10.
