Traffic stop leads to drug arrest A traffic stop by Jackson Police Sgt. Josh Garrett in the early morning hours, Monday, Sept. 17, ended with the arrest of a Toxey man for illegal drug possession. Sgt. Garrett stopped Faron Henson Jenkins, 47, near the intersection of Highway 43 and McVay Road around 1 a.m. During a search of Jenkins' vehicle, he found several Oxycontin pills, a small amount of cocaine and a handgun. Jenkins could not produce a permit for the pistol. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a pistol without a permit and booked into the Clarke County Jail. Officer Ben Marshall assisted Sgt. Garrett with the arrest. Other incidents The Jackson Police Department also reported the following incidents during the past two-week period: •An attempted burglary was reported Sept. 13 in the 600 block of Forest Avenue. The attempted breakin is believed to have occurred between 5 p.m., Sept. 12 and 9 a.m., Sept. 13. •A vehicle break-in was reported Sept. 12 at the Jackson Arms apartment complex. A stereo was reported stolen from the vehicle. •A burglary was reported at a residence in the 100 block of Rose Drive Sept. 9. Food items valued at $50 were reported stolen. •A theft by deception was reported Sept. 8 at a business in the 3500 block of College Avenue. Merchandise valued at $2,300 was reported stolen. •A Remington pump shotgun was reported stolen Sept. 7 from a residence in the 100 block of Hi-Lo Street. •A battery-powered 4-wheeler, valued at $200, was reported stolen Sept. 7 from the 400 block of Club Wiley Road. The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between Sept. 7 and 8. •The theft of a debit card was reported to have occurred in the 100 block of Hi-Lo Street sometime between Sept. 4 and 7.
