Burglars hit two churches in Morvin
By Kathryn F. Pickard News Reporter

Two churches in the Morvin area were burglarized last weekend.

According to Investigator Ron Baggette of the Clarke County Sheriff's Department, Buxton Chapel, located on Campbell's Landing Road, was burglarized Friday and Rockpoint Baptist Church, located on Highway 69, was burglarized either late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

The only item taken from both churches were the window air conditioning units.

"About $7,000 worth of copper was stolen in the same area, off Campbell's Landing Road about a month ago. I think these thefts might be related. I believe they took the air conditioners for the copper. Copper is selling high right now," Baggette said. He noted that Mobile has had a rash of copper thefts recently.

"We have leads on these cases and we expect to make an arrest soon," he added.
