CCHS Dawg steals MC QB hand-off for big play in win
"We did not play as well on offense or defense as we did in the first two games," Coach Allan Floyd said. "I don't think we played very well Friday. We made a lot of errors with blocking assignments and missing holes on offense, and missed assignments on defense." The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard in a big way in the first quarter when Kenneth Kimbrough broke free for a 75- yard touchdown run. The try for two came up short but CCHS had a 6-0 lead. In the second quarter they extended the lead when quarterback Tyler Walker scored on a 5-yard keeper. Again the try for two came up short but CCHS had a 12-0 lead going into halftime. In the third quarter Harrison took the handoff away from the Leopard QB at the CCHS 15- yard line and returned the ball to the Mobile Christian 8-yard line. Two plays later Tim Barnett powered in from 6-yards out for the Clarke County touchdown. Bubba Frazier bulled in for the 2-point conversion and the Bulldogs had a 20-0 stranglehold. In the fourth quarter the Bulldogs put the game out of reach when Walker tossed a 27- yard TD pass to Frazier. The attempt was no good, but CCHS had a 26-0 advantage. With the second team on the field Clarke County closed out the scoring when Torri Taite scored on a 1-yard run. The point-after try failed but the Bulldogs had a 32-0 road, region win. Kimbrough led all rushers with 192 yards on 16 carries and a score. Barnett added 55 yards on 16 carries. Kedarius Allen had 64 yards on three carries. Walker was 4-of-7 passing for 90 yards and a TD. He had 19 yards rushing with another score. Defensively Leevon Davis paced the team with 12 tackles. Justin Robinson had eight tackles and two sacks. Ronnie Osborne had five stops and two sacks. Harrison had five tackles and a fumble recovery. The Bulldogs, ranked number five in Class 3A, return home this week as they host Choctaw County.
Game time is 7 p.m. at H.G. Prim Stadium.
