The Sweet Water High School Bulldogs continued to cut a path through Class 1A Region 4 as they pummeled Sunshine 64- 0 last Friday night in Newbern.

The defense actually provided all the points the Bulldogs would need as Butch Williams scooped up a blocked punt and returned it 15-yards for the first touchdown. Scottie Nelson kicked the PAT and SWHS had a 7-0 lead.

They added to the score a short time later when Johnny Williams scored on a 17-yard run. The kick failed, but SWHS had a 13-0 lead.

The Bulldogs blew the game wide open in the second quarter as they reeled off 24 points.

Anthony Landrum scored three TDs in the period on runs of 43-, 33- and 45-yards.

Johnny Lockett ran in a 2- point conversion. Nelson added two PATs.

The defense was awarded a safety when the ball was snapped over the punter's head and the player took the ball out of the endzone, making it 37-0 at halftime.

Landrum again hit paydirt in the third quarter when he scored on a 28-yard run. Nelson made the kick, bringing the score to 44-0.

Chris Landrum increased the score with a 3-yard run. Nelson made the kick and Sweet Water led 51-0.

In the fourth quarter Cordaryl Curtis scored on a 24-yard run as the Bulldogs built a 58-0 lead.

The game's final score came when Jeremy Landrum sprinted for a 49-yard touchdown.

The kick was no good but the Bulldogs won going away 64-0.

Anthony Landrum paced the offense with 246 yards on 18 carries and four scores. Curtis added 70 yards on three carries and a score. Jeremy Landrum had four carries for 65 yards and a TD.

Defensively Delano Brewer had nine tackles and a fumble recovery. Devin Wolf had nine tackles. Nakia Dennis had seven stops. Johnny Lockett had seven tackles and a blocked punt. Antonio Landrum had an interception.

This Friday the top-ranked Bulldogs return home to take on Linden in a huge region game with the seventh ranked Patriots.

Former defensive coordinator Andro Williams is now the head coach at Linden.

Game time at Nolan Atkins Stadium is 7 p.m.
