Fire Prevention Week starts Oct. 7

The Jackson Fire Department will kick off Fire Prevention Week with church inspections on Sunday, Oct. 7. Immediately following inspections the JFD will attend Sunday morning church service together.

The annual Fire Prevention Parade will be Wednesday, Oct. 10, with lineup beginning at 2:30 p.m.; the parade will begin at 3:30 p.m. All floats will line up on the road behind Gillmore School and marching groups will assemble on Mayton Drive. All fire equipment will line up on Forest Avenue. As the parade begins, the two groups will merge at the intersection on College and Forest avenues and proceed toward town. All units will disband in the Vanity Fair parking lot past city hall. The annual Fire Prevention Banquet will be Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the H.W. Pearce Memorial Park Assembly House. This year's Fire Prevention queen and her court will be presented at that time.

Donation letters were sent out last week. Any donations will be appreciated. Fund-raising chairpersons for this year are Mark Leon and Mike Furr.
