Grove Hill resident says she shouldn't have to pay full sewerage bill During Monday night's Grove Hill Town Council meeting former council member Mary Golthy accused Mayor Lamar Hudson of settling a personal vendetta by charging her a full sewerage rate. Golthy said she had a septic tank at her home that all the waste water from her home, except from one bathroom, went to. When the bathroom was added in 2000 it was tied in to Grove Hill's waste water system. "I asked for an adjustment since only the water from that one bathroom was going into the sewer system. Mr. Kossie Powell, on the water board, gave me the adjustment. You changed it a month ago without the consent of a legislative body," Golthy told the mayor. Hudson replied that sewage was not under the water board's authority. "Why didn't you call me before changing it? You shouldn't let your personal feelings interfere with your mayoral duties just because you're mad with me," she said. The mayor said his personal feelings had nothing to do with the change and he was rectifying a mistake. "Why don't you just have all your waste water go into the septic tank," he asked her. After a few more minutes of arguing Golthy asked the town council members how they would feel in her situation. Council member Pat McGraw stated she agreed with Hudson, that Golthy should have all her waste water going to her septic tank. Those appointments include Cheryl Hicks, town clerk; Leo Frazier, police chief; Buddy Jordan, fire chief; Greg Dunagan, assistant fire chief; William Jackson, superintendent of streets and parks; Jackie Garrick, administrative assistant/billing clerk; Helen Carter, magistrate/clerk; Bennie "Bug" Tarleton, superintendent of utilities; Kerry Reid, director of tourism and historical preservation; Lamar Johnson, prosecutor; Bruce Wilson, town attorney; Ronnie Keahey, municipal judge; Gillis Pugh, park director; and Kyle McIntyre, wastewater manager. Other business Council members approved a five percent pay raise for town employees for the coming year and larger pay raise for employees whose duties have increased..
