HIV Prevention group meets

The Area 9 HIV Prevention Network Group will have its next meeting Friday, Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. until noon in the Community Room of the Monroe County Health Department building. CCHS 1982 Class reunion

Alabama Tale Tellin' Festival

Tale Tellers will be telling tales Friday, Oct. 12 and Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. each night at the 29th Alabama Tale-Tellin' Festival. Swappin' Ground begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Pickard Auditorium on Washington Street in Selma. Tale Tellers will feature Wanda Johnson, Bil Lepp and The Dill Pickers. GHMH bridge benefit set

The annual Grove Hill Memorial Hospital's Auxiliary Bridge Benefit will be Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Southern Magnolia from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. With the purchase of a $25 ticket, the holder will be eligible to win a $500 gift certificate from The Gift Gallery.

Economics workshop set

An economics workshop will be held Saturday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Livingston. The workshop is sponsored by Nu Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Gilbert Peacock, a financial planner/advisor will inform participants of various financial strategies.

Mott & Brown reunion

Mott and Brown family reunion will be Saturday, Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in the Chilton community.

W. V. Bedwell reunion

The W.V. Bedwell family reunion will be held Sunday, Oct. 14 at his residence at 2367 Sandflat Road. For more information call 334-636-2696. Bring a covered dish and enjoy the day. All family and friends are invited.

SWAIA to meet

Southwest Alabama Improvement Association will have its monthly meeting and community information forum Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Jackson Steakhouse Restaurant. The guest speaker will be 1st Sgt. Houston Cunningham (Retired), Instructor of Military Science at Southern Choctaw High School. Education retirees to meet

The Clarke County Education Retirees Association will meet Thursday, Oct. 18 at 11:45 a.m. at the New Magnolia in Grove Hill. The program will be presented by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Alabama. All education retirees and support retirees are urged to attend to hear important information about your insurance. Each member has been asked to bring another potential member with them to this meeting.

West fundraiser

Members of the Helwestern Volunteer Fire Department are taking orders for Boston butts and slabs of ribs. Proceeds will benefit cancer patient Jeffery West. The Boston butts are $25 each and the ribs are $17 per slab. They can be picked up Friday, Oct. 19 at the fire station. Contact any member of the Helwestern Volunteer Fire Department to place an order or for more information.

Drive thru flu clinic set

The Clarke County Health Department will be conducting a "drive thru" flu clinic Friday, Oct. 19 from 7 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the National Guard Armory in Grove Hill. This will provide us with an opportunity to exercise our capabilities of vaccinating a large number of people in a short amount of time.
