Teens arrested in theft of guns from T'ville business

Four Thomasville teenagers have been arrested and charged with breaking into Dunn's Sporting Goods and stealing 43 guns.

Anthony Jones, 19, Dexter Law, 19, and Wayne Davis, 22, all of Thomasville, were to be arraigned this week on federal firearms charges. The name of the fourth suspect, who is 17, was not immediately available.

The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives worked with the Clarke County Sheriff's Department and the Thomasville Police Department on the case. As of last week, lawmen had tracked down 31 of the stolen guns.

Mike Messinger of the federal agency's Mobile office said more arrests could be made. The federal agency's office was closed Monday and no information on additional arrests was available.

Joe Dunn, one of the store owners, said thieves cut power and phone lines at about 7:30 p.m. after the store closed. He said they used a boltcutter to break the front door's lock.

The Dunn's Sporting Goods burglary is just one of many that has plagued Thomasville in recent weeks. Police there have been working hard to crack the cases.
