Free press good for all

This week is also National Newspaper Week. We aren't just tooting The Democrat's own horn but championing the idea of a free press.

There are still a lot of countries in the world where what you read in the papers and see on TV is monitored- and censored- by the government.

For over 200 years, newspapers in the United States have had the freedom to report the news as they see it and to comment editorially on the issues.

Readers have the freedom to read these papers and to add their own comments through letters, columns, etc.

A free press is something we should all be proud of.
