Criminal cases slated for trial next week

A Thomasville woman who is a Coffeeville High School teacher is on the jury docket for soliciation of murder and enticement charges during the criminal term of Clarke County Circuit Court, which begins Monday, Oct. 22.

Sharon Linton Rutherford, a ninth grade English teacher at CHS, is scheduled to stand trial for solicitation of murder and two counts of enticing a child to enter a room or vehicle for immoral purposes.

Ruthorford allegedly had an affair with a student and convinced him to kill her husband, James Ruthorford in April 2006. She was also indicted for making advances to two other students in her classroom.

Judge Thomas Baxter will hear the case. Nathan Lee Chapman of Grove Hill will face murder charges in Judge Stuart DuBose's courtroom.

He was arrested in December 2005 after turning himself in for shooting Kelvin Louis Foster several times with a .45 caliber pistol and killing him.

Foster's body was found on Main Street in Fulton.
