Chilton burglary suspects arrested
By Barry H. Hendrix Managing Editor

Three suspects were arrested in the burglary of a residence on Highway 154 in the Chilton community. The case dates back to two burglaries reported in July at the home of Richard Kimbrough, said Ron Baggette, chief investigator with the Clarke County Sheriff's Department.

At least four firearms were stolen in one instance. Al Benjamin Jr., 23, of Thomasville, who had worked with Kimbrough's son, had been a person of interest, Baggette said. The victim wasn't suspicious until Benjamin began calling every weekend wanting to know if they were at home.

Benjamin made it easy for authorities by recently going to a branch of First United Security Bank and trying to cash a $400 check stolen from Kimbrough's home. Baggette has a photo of Benjamin caught on the bank's camera and Kimbrough's checkbook was discovered in Benjamin's vehicle.

Benjamin was arrested and charged with burglary, first degree, possession of forged instrument, second degree, receiving stolen property.

Authorities believe Benjamin burglarized the Kimbrough residence on multiple occasions. Benjamin is cooperating with authorities, but no stolen items have been recovered.

Also arrested were accomplices Adrian Lamar Drinkard, 25, and Alfredo Tucker, 27, also of Thomasville. Both were charged with burglary, first degree.

Also, a "home invasion" was reported Oct. 12 at 600 Barlow Bend Road. The Sheriff's Department was called at approximately 11 p.m. A subject came into the unlocked home while two teenage girls were at the residence. The mother had just left the house to visit her sister's house. "He must have been lying in wait to see her leave," Baggette said.

The suspect came into the back of the house and stood next to one of the beds of one of the teenage girls. One of the girls told the intruder she had called her cousin to come. He got scared and ran out the back door.

One of the teenage girls recognized the intruder, but he was not an acquaintance. "They didn't understand why he came into the house," Baggette said. Authorities later arrested Johnny West Mc- Clain Jr., 20, of Gainestown. He was charged with burglary, second degree, and assault, third degree,

In addition, Kenny Denson, 39, of Gosport, was arrested and charged with four counts possession of a forged instrument. He was employed with Roemen Asphalt of Jackson. He is accused of stealing checks from the company checkbook and writing checks totaling $1,700, Baggette said.
