Chapman on trial for murder in Grove Hill

While Sharon Rutherford is being tried on enticement charges in one courtroom, a murder trial is going on next door in the second courtroom of the recently opened courthouse annex.

Nathan Lee Chapman of Grove Hill is being tried for the murder of Kelvin Louis Foster. Chapman surrendered to authorities after the December 2005 shooting.

Foster had been shot several times with a .45 caliber pistol. His body was found on Main Street in Fulton.

District Attorney Spence Walker is prosecuting the case and said Wednesday morning that the state would likely complete its prosecution that day. He expected the trial to continue through Thursday or Friday. James D. Brandyburg is defending Chapman.

Judge Stuart DuBose is presiding over the jury trial.
