Clarke-Washington Fair underway

Brittney Daniels (left) was chosen as this year's Clarke-Washington Counties Fair Queen during opening night of the fair, Tuesday, Oct. 30. In an unusual circumstance, no third runnerup was named due to a tie for second place. Other winners (L-R) were first runner-up Marnita Stallworth, second runner-up Charlotte Goldman and second runner-up Brooke Robinson. The Clarke-Washington Counties Fair is sponsored by the Jackson Rotary Club and will continue through Saturday, Nov. 3. The annual Cheerleading Contest will be conducted tonight (Thursday) in the Jackson High School gymnasium. Friday night will be "Friday Night at the Fair," beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday will be chocked full of fun for the entire family, with Children's Day from noon-5 p.m. Children ages 5-17 will be admitted for $1. Regular gates will be open from 6-10 p.m., nightly. Admission is $5 per person. Proceeds go toward community programs supported by the Jackson Rotary Club. Photo by Evan Carden
