The officers of the Future Business Leaders of America, along with three members of DECA, attended the Joint Leadership Development Conference in Birmingham, Sept. 29. The students participated in several workshops with high school students from across the state. This year's conference was filled with exciting leadership activities and networking opportunities. Ben Glenn inspired conference participants on Saturday. Innovative leadership techniques were shared during motivating workshops and general sessions.
The FBLA officers attended a meeting based on the responsibilities of an officer, leaming how to conduct business meetings, plan successful fundraises, and reach out and help the community. They also participated in an interactive workshop on team building and how to work with others.
Members of DECA also attended meetings. The most influential session for them was the presentation Ben Glenn prepared. Glenn, also known as "The Chalk Guy," told motivating stories of his past and inspired many of the students. "The Chalk Guy," a motivational speaker and artist, drew astonishing pictures based on his lecture.
