Great turnout at Parenting Day
By Jake Paul Special to The Democrat

The faculty, staff and administration of Clarke County High School would like to thank the more than 200 parents who participated in Parenting Day.

The day was a huge success with parents picking up report cards and meeting with teachers. Parents are a huge part of our school, and we appreciate everything they do for our school. Dedicated parents are a huge part of the reason why we achieved our Adequate Yearly Progress goal set by No Child Left Behind.

CCHS was recently notified that we have been selected as an official ACCESS Distance Leaming Site. This selection provides valuable opportunities for students.

Funding is available to install a state-of-the-art computer lab that will allow administration and students to expand course offerings and selections by taking classes through Interactive Conferencing and online instruction. This lab will be ready for student use by January.

The Balfour representative will come to the school Friday, Nov. 2 to receive orders for senior materials. Also, seniors need to be on the lookout for scholarships! This is the time of year to be looking for scholarships and applying for colleges, and remember that the counselor's office is always open for help.

Don't forget that there will be no school on Nov. 12 for Veteran's Day. Thanksgiving will be observed Nov. 19-23 and the Alabama High School Graduation Exam will be administered again the week of Dec. 3, so keep studying!
