The Clarke County High School Bulldogs accomplished two things this past Friday night as they pummeled Central-Hayneville 62-0 at H.G. Prim Stadium.

First, they remained unbeaten and secondly they had no injuries as they prepare for the annual Backyard Brawl with Thomasville.

In facing Central-Haynville they were meeting a region opponent who did not attempt one single rush in the game. All of their offensive snaps were pass plays. They completed just one of those, three times the QB was sacked.

CCHS' defense had four special team tackles, three sacks and the tackled receiver, meaning they had eight total tackles.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a big 39-0 first quarter lead.

Tyler Walker tossed a 22-yard TD pass to Bubba Frazier, capping a short 2-play drive. Mark Lambert kicked the PAT and CCHS led 7-0 with 11:15 left in the first quarter.

Less than two minutes later the Bulldogs were again in the Central end zone as Tim Barnett scored on a 35-yard sprint. Lambert again made the kick and Clarke County had a 14-0 advantage with 10:00 left in the period.

Keeping the whole two minutes between scores going, Clarke County added to the lead when Barnett scored on 20-yard pass from Walker. The attempt failed, but the Bulldogs had a 20-0 lead with 8:03 left in the frame.

Central fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Freeman Bettis recovered the ball at the 25-yard line for CCHS.

On the second play Walker flipped a 7- yard touchdown pass to Dwayne Owens for the Bulldogs. The kick was no good as CCHS tightened their stranglehold 26-0 with 6:22 to go in the first quarter.

The defense then got into the scoring act as Kenneth Kimbrough picked off a pass and returned it 37-yards for the next Bulldog touchdown. Lambert made the kick and CCHS led 33-0 with 2:30 left.

The score of the first quarter came when Britt Chapman scored on a 20- yard run with :31 seconds left. The kick was no good, but the Bulldogs had a 39- 0 lead.

With a running clock beginning in the second quarter and freely substituting, CCHS managed just a 25-yard field goal from Lambert, making the score at the break 42-0 in favor of Clarke County.

In the third quarter Barnett picked off a pass and returned it 40-yards for the CCHS touchdown. Lambert converted the point-after try and the Bulldogs increased their lead to 49-0 with 3:47 left.

Daniel Bedwell increased the lead as he picked off the next Central pass and returned it 15-yards to the Hayneville 30- yard line.

Kedarius Allen capped the drive with a 1-yard run. Torri Taite ran for the other 29-yards in the short drive.

The kick failed but Clarke County had a 55-0 advantage with 4:09 left in the game.

On the ensuing kickoff Kenneth Hannon jarred the ball loose from the Central runner. Reggie Ivory took the pigskin 28-yards for the final score. Lambert made the kick and the Bulldogs won 62-0.

Chapman led all rushers with 103 yards on five carries and a score. Lambert added 101 yards on six carries. Kimbrough had 38 yards on two carries. Barnett added 35 yards rushing, 20 yards receiving and two scores.

Walker was 4-for-4 passing for 69 yards and three scores. Owens caught two passes for 29 yards and a score. Taite had 38 yards on three carries.

Kenneth Hannon had three of the eight tackles.

This Friday the Bulldogs (9-0, 7-0) put their perfect season on the line as they travel to Thomasville to take on the Tigers (8-1, 7-0) in the 93rd meeting between the schools.

Game time at D.F. Anderson Field is 7 p.m.
