New Home Church near Monroeville will have a gospel singing Friday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. featuring "The Singing Echoes" of Cleveland, Tenn. There will be no charge for admission but a love offering will be received. In 1973, the singing echoes received a Grammy nomination for their arrangement and performance of the song, "When I Wake Up To Sleep No More." The group's work was recognized by the State of Tennessee and Gov. Lamar Alexander appointed them as

Ambassadors of Good Will" for the State of Tennessee. Revs. Kenneth Johnson and Thomas Smith invite everyone to attend. New Home Church is located just North of U.S. Highway 84 between Repton and Monroeville.

UMW Fall Food

Festival

The U.M.W. of the Thomasville United Methodist Church will again sponsor its annual Fall Food Festival Saturday, Nov. 17 from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. in the church fellowship hall. The festival will feature baked goods, candies, pickles and preserves, casseroles and an angels' attic of used jewelry, books and tapes. Come join them for a pre-Thanksgiving taste of autumn's bounty. New Greater

The New Greater First Baptist Church family will have its Matron-Deaconess - Missionary Fellowship Sunday, Nov. 18 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Anthony Trimble and the First Baptist Church of Uniontown will be the special guests. Sharon Buford is the chairperson. Rev. Carlton L. Hogue is the pastor.

Operation

Christmas

Child continues

Clarke Baptist Association located in Grove Hill will be a drop-off site for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes through Sunday, Nov. 18. Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan's Purse that takes gift filled shoeboxes to children in foreign countries. There are only two weeks left until Operation Christmas Child collection week. Please continue to pack your shoeboxes with the suggested items. Last year's collections totaled 1,354 boxes and would like to have around 2,000 this year. Every gift-filled shoebox goes to a child who has never received such

Community

Thanksgiving

service set

The Community Thanksgiving Service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. at the C.C.H.S. Sage Auditorium. The service will be conducted by ministers representing our community churches. The sermon being presented by Rev. David Moore; anthem will be performed by a joint choir conducted by Dr. Randy Boone and composed of choir members from area churches.

Singers who would like to obtain music to participate should contact Dr. Randy Boone at the Grove Hill Baptist Church. Joint rehearsal will be held at 5 p.m. at Sage Auditorium on Sunday, Nov. 18. Everyone is encouraged to attend this worship service in celebration of the Thanksgiving season.

Women's Day

Pine Chapel No. I Baptist Church will observe its Annual Men and Women's Day Sunday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be Sis. Barbara Fuller of the Independent Baptist Church in Sweet Water.

The guest speaker at the 2:30 p.m. service will be Rev. Robert Jackson, pastor of the St. Luke Baptist Church of Grove Hill and his congregation. Rev. Eligha Scott Sr. is the pastor.

St. James A.M.E. Church of Choctaw Bluff will have its 96th year anniversary Sunday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. Rev. Brian Chapman of the Vernal Baptist Church and congregation of Jackson will be the special guests. Rev. Clausell Boykin II is the pastor.

time singing

Mt. Olive No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church Pre-Thanksgiving Service: "Singing The Old Time Way" will be Sunday, Nov. 18 at 3:30 p.m. featuring Steffon McCovery and the Mobile County Mass Choir in concert. The local group will be The Jackson Male Chorus. This service is sponsored by the pastor's assistance committee, Hattie A. Sampson is committee president. Dr. Edsel Davis, is the interim pastor.

Star of Zion to serve Thanksgiving
