Couture

Sarah Virginia Couture, 81, of Jackson died Nov. 7, 2007 at her residence.

She was born Feb. 17, 1926. She was a native of Ripley, Miss. She was a member of Trafalgar Village Baptist Church of Memphis, Tenn. She was a retired self-employed owner of the Shelby Motel.

Survivors include one sister, Sally Blair, Mobile; a nephew, David Counselman, Pennsylvania; a niece, Patricia B. (Roger) Counselman, Jackson.

The service was Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. at the Memphis Funeral Home Chapel in Memphis, Tenn. Burial was in Memphis Memorial Park.

Horton

Eva Milstead Horton, 99, of Jackson died Nov. 11, 2007 at her residence.

She was born Oct. 20, 1908. She was a member of Good Springs Baptist Church. She was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Santa Fe Lodge #225 in Jackson. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy (Dean) Horton, Terry (Kaye) Horton, all of Jackson; three daughters, Carolyn (Jack) Greer, Linda (Cecil) Jackson, all of Jackson, Teresa (Larry) Howell, Cantonment, Fla.; four sisters, Irma Bumpers, Emmarene Dolbear, both of Jackson, Otto Milstead, Huntsville, Aubrey Milstead, Greensboro, N.C.; 31 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Horton Sr., two sons, Richard A. (Billy) Horton Jr., Hugh Horton; four daughters, Emma H. Andress, Novalene H. Woodham, Margaret H. Wiggins and Myra H. Miller.

The service was Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. at Lathan Funeral Home Chapel in Jackson. Burial was in the Winn Community Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Jimmy Horton, Terry Horton, Jack Greer, Cecil Jackson, Johnny Miller and Larry Howell.

Honorary pallbearers were grandsons and granddaughters.
