Community Calendar Fulton Christmas parade set The Dickinson and Fulton Unity II Community Organization will once again sponsor a Christmas parade Saturday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. The parade will line up at 1 p.m. at the Spencer Chapel A.M.E. Church in Fulton and go through downtown. Entry fee will be $5. The theme will be An All Occasion Christmas (it's your choice). All entrants will be required to pick up a permit and they will have to have their permit to participate. Any music playing during the parade must play Christmas-themed music this year. The theme for this year's parade will be "Christmas Books." The Chamber will have the only official Santa Claus this year riding on the fire truck. The cost to participate is $15 and should be paid at the Southwest Alabama Chamber of Commerce office no later than Nov. 30. Lunch with Santa in Thomasville The Thomasville Lions Club is sponsoring "Lunch with Santa" immediately following the Christmas parade in the old city gymnasium from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. The event includes a pizza lunch with a drink and a cookie. Price of the ticket includes a picture with Santa, two arts and crafts, face painting, a toy walk and cookie decorating. Tickets may be purchased from any Lions Club member or at the following businesses: The Chamber of Commerce, Brooks Chevrolet or First United Security Bank. Advance tickets may be purchased for $10 or you may purchase them at the door for $12. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Tour of Homes in Coffeeville Come and tour some of the beautifully decorated homes for the holidays in the "Tour of Homes" open house in Coffeeville Sunday, Dec. 2 from 2 until 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person and will be for sale Sunday, Dec. 2 at 1:30 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge in Coffeeville. ATRC sets joint committee meeting The Alabama Tombigbee Regional Commission will hold a joint meeting of the Citizens' Technical and Policy Committees Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. The meeting will take place in the Alabama Tombigbee Room at Alabama Southern Community College's Thomasville Campus located at 30755 Highway 43. The RPO has established a transportation planning process in the rural areas of southwest Alabama and serves as a formal link between the ALDOT and the local governments. The counties included in the RPO are Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Dallas, Marengo, Monroe, Perry, Sumter, Washington and Wilcox. The RPO provides government officials and citizens in these counties an opportunity to advise the ALDOT on road, bridge and other transportation projects. Grove Hill Christmas parade Grove Hill's annual Christmas parade will be Thursday, Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. Line up will be at 3:15 p.m. on Church Street in front of Clarke County High School. Jackson Christmas parade The Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Christmas parade Friday, Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. The theme is "Winter Wonderland." There is an entry fee of $25. Checks should be made payable to the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce. Participants should pre-register by contacting the chamber office at 251-246-3251 so line-up may be determined. There will be four categories this year: Clubs and non-profit organizations; businesses and industries; bands, and other marching groups. Line-up will begin at 3:30 p.m. The parade route has been changed beginning at the four-way stop at Commerce Street and Broad Street and disband at Joe M. Gillmore Elementary School. Participants are asked to not throw any candy or other items until they turn the corner at the red light on Commerce and Broad. Coffeeville Christmas parade The Coffeeville Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 8 at 10 a.m. Library dedication is Dec. 9 The dedication of the O'Melia Family Room at the Grove Hill Public Library will be held Sunday, Dec. 9 from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. The public is invited. Lower Peach Tree candlelight service The fourth annual blessings of Christmas candlelight services will be held Sunday, Dec. 9 at 4 p.m. at Lower Peach Tree United Methodist Church. Hospital Auxiliary Tree Lighting Grove Hill Memorial Hospital Auxiliary's Tree Lighting will be held Thursday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. at the hospital. Refreshments will be served in the hospital's lobby after the program. As always, a list of Honorees and Memorials will be displayed at the hospital for viewing. Forms for submitting names for a tree light can be found in The Clarke County Democrat and at the hospital. Free holiday cookbooks The annual Holiday Cookbook is now available at The Clarke County Extension office at the Clarke County Courthouse. It's free so go by there and pick one up.
