Thanksgiving watermelon

Estes Sheffield shows off a 38-pound monster watermelon. The melons were planted in late July and survived the triple-digit heat of August. The watermelon was pulled two weeks ago in late October. Sheffield claims to have even more of the sweet melons still in the field. Photo by Ross Wood
