Bessie Lee Armstead Franklin, 83, of Whatley died Nov. 15, 2007 at her residence.

She was born March 30, 1924. She was a member of Indian Ridge Baptist Church of Whatley.

Survivors include three sons, Elijah (Doris) Franklin, Sweet Water, Melvin (Ingrid) Franklin, Mobile, Edmund Franklin, Whatley; two daughters, Doris (Earl) Wilson, Grove Hill, Naomi F. Taite, Whatley; two brothers, Sidney (Cleretta) Armstead, Toledo, Ohio, Vivan (Queen) Armstead, New York, New York; 11 grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tommie and Louisa Armstead, husband, Odies Franklin Sr., a son, Odies Franklin Jr., one sister, Nettie James and three brothers, Willie Gwin, T.J. Armstead and Clinton Armstead.

Visitation will be Wednesday, (today), Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. with the funeral service following at 12 p.m. at the Indian Ridge Baptist Church in Whatley with Rev. Johnny Lynum to officiate. Burial will be in the Indian Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

Jackson Memorial Funeral Home is directing.
