Holiday parades ready to roll

Santa in Fulton
Santa Claus is busy making toys and preparing to make an appearance in several parades in Clarke County. Fulton kicked off the holiday season with a parade Nov. 24 and more parades are scheduled in the county through Dec. 8.

Thomasville

Thomasville's annual Christmas parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, beginning at 10 a.m. The parade is sponsored by the Southwest Alabama Area Chamber of Commerce.

The theme for the parade this year is "Christmas Books."

The fee to participate is $15 and each entry must have a permit to participate in the parade.

Line-up is at Washington Avenue at 9 a.m. The parade will travel down West Front Street to Nicol Avenue and then on to West Second Street. The parade will end at the intersection of West Second Street and Alabama Avenue.

Grove Hill

The theme for Grove Hill's Christmas parade this year is "Christmas Is....." The parade will be held Thursday, Dec. 6, beginning at 4 p.m. and is sponsored by the Grove Hill Area Chamber of Commerce.

Line-up will begin at 3:15 in front of Clarke County High School.

The parade route will begin on Jackson Street at the intersection of Cobb Street and will continue south to Fourth Avenue.

After the parade Santa will be on the front porch of the Clarke County Museum for children to tell him what they have on their Christmas list.

Wilson Hall Middle School Student Government Association will also be at the museum selling hot chocolate and fudge. Jackson

Jackson's annual Christmas parade, sponsored by the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held Friday, Dec. 7, beginning at 5 p.m.

The theme for this year's parade is "Winter Wonderland." There is a $25 entry fee.

The parade route has changed. Line-up for the parade will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the four-way stop at Forest Avenue and West Church Street and will disband at Gillmore Elementary School.

Coffeeville

The Coffeeville Christmas parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 8 at 10 a.m.

The theme for the parade this year is "Christmas in Coffeeville...Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow." The Coffeeville Ladies' League is sponsoring the parade.

Line-up will begin at 9:15 a.m. in front of Coffeeville High School.

In addition to the parade there will be vendors, merchants and craft booths set up in the Masonic Lodge parking lot, across from the school. There will also be concession booths and entertainment throughout the morning.

Coffeeville will also have a Tour of Homes/Holiday Open House, Sunday Dec. 2 from 2 - 4:30 p.m. Five homes will be featured. Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Masonic Lodge.
