Drug money seized
From Staff Reports

Money used in an apparent illegal drug transaction was seized Dec. 1 by Deputy Jim Mundie of the Clarke County Sheriff's Department.

While working interdiction on Highway 43 north of Grove Hill, K-9 Deputy Mundie stopped a vehicle for speeding, said Ron Baggette, chief investigator.

The driver of the vehicle was Rodney Jerome Cox of Catherine, Ala., and there were three passengers in the vehicle.

After receiving consent, Mundie and drug dog Capon searched the vehicle, and K-9 Capon alerted inside the vehicle around the floorboard area and the glove compartment.

Deputy Mundie found residue of illegal narcotics on the floorboard of the vehicle. Inside the glove compartment was approximately $10,500 in U.S. currency and in mixed bills, Baggette said. The currency was seized.

No one in the vehicle could be tied to the drug residue so the driver was given a warning for speeding and released.
