McKinley Willie James McKinley, 87, of Satsuma died Dec. 1, 2007. He was born April 16, 1920. He was a native of Clarke County. He was a veteran of World War II. He saw action in the European Theatre. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Service Metal, African Middle Eastern Service Medal with three Bronze Stars. He was a member of the Gateway Baptist Church. He was employed with Courtaulds North American Fibers and retired in 1985. He loved gardening, camping and antique cars. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Earline Few McKinley, Satsuma; one son, Keith (Patti) McKinley, Satsuma; one daughter, Judy (Neil) Tapia, Satsuma; two brothers, Cecil (Louise) McKinley, Thomasville, Aaron T. (Faye) McKinley, Axis; two sisters, Eunice Drinkard, Thomasville, Bertha Robertson (Glen) Snyder, South Pole, Fla.; three grandchildren; one step-grandchild; seven greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron S. and Lula J. Courtney McKinley, a brother, Underwood McKinley and a sister, Ruth McKinley Gates. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Odssey Health Care Services for their invaluable services and Yolanda Myles for her compassionate caregiving. The service was Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. at Gateway Baptist Church in Saraland. Burial was in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Saraland. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville directed. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gateway Baptist Church or to your favorite charity. Active pallbearers were Jim Lott, Red Pierce, Tiny Drinkard, Kevin Robertson, Connie McKinley and Tommy Gatewood.
Honorary pallbearers were Louis Baer, Charlie Jernigan, John Lyles, Charles Orso, Roy Weaver, Jimmy Payne, John Hayford and Robert Cockran.
