Ask The Vet
Dr. Martin Coffman
Q. My cat seems to take a long time to urinate. He stays in his litter box for minutes on end at times. A. Cats, especially males commonly have bladder infections or urinary "stones" that can block the bladder's ability to empty. This can be serious and can become an emergency. You need to take your cat to one of the local veterinarians to discover the cause We have medications and special foods that can help this condition, but some cats need surgery if the condition is ignored for a long time.
