Chance Baptist Christmas program Dec. 23

Gail Marshall
The Chance Baptist Church will observe its annual Christmas program on Sunday, Dec. 23. The program will be a part of regular morning worship services which will begin at 11:30 a.m. All surrounding churches are invited to attend. Rev. Charley Marshall Sr. is the pastor.

Pleasant View Baptist Church of Lower Peach Tree observed its annual Christmas service Sunday, Dec. 16. Christmas goodies were passed out to all present.

The Fellowship Baptist Church of Chance observed its annual Christmas dinner last Sunday. Everyone enjoyed themselves.

This past Thanksgiving was a special time for Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Morrissette of Chance. They played host to their family and community members by having a "Thanksgiving Feast" at their home. They had a large tent with tables and chairs in the yard so that everyone present would have somewhere to relax. There was every type of food available, including the traditional turkey, dressing and ham. All types of desserts were enjoyed as well as vegetables and salads. Their children usually take turns hosting the family feast but this year they wanted to do something a little different. Word was spread throughout the community and everyone just wandered in and out during the day enjoying all that was present. J.D. says that he is just thankful to God to be able to see all of his children and grandchildren, along with other family and friends enjoying themselves on this holiday. He looks forward to family and friends visiting during the Christmas holidays. J.D. is presently recovering from heart surgery.

Happy Birthday! Greetings are extended to the following community members who will celebrate their birthday during the month of December: David Bettis-12/15, Charles R. Morrissette-12/25, Veronica Taite-12/4, Lillian Stabler-12/9, Eddie R. Welch-12/22, Henry Lee Welch-12/17.

Please continue to pray for family and community members who are recovering from recent illness: Carl Chapman, Dot Dotson, Nellie Galamb, Dorothy Carlton, Evelean Taite, Mamie Westry, Grace Haskew, Maxie Taite, Monroe Kidd, Loretta Harper, J.D. Morrissette, Ella Mae Pugh, Anniece Welch, Alijay McCaskill, Retha Marshall, Elouise Bumpers, Hattie Kidd, Lucy Dubose, Freddie Lee Kidd and Annie Lee Welch.
