Mr. and Mrs. Rivers to celebrate 60 years

Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Rivers (nee Ioma Sheffield) of Grove Hill will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception Saturday, Dec. 22 from 2 until 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Grove Hill.

The couple were married Dec. 25, 1947 at the Jackson Baptist Church. Decorations in the church cost $25 in 1947.

The couple has two sons, Phillip Wayne Rivers of Washington, D.C. He is a senior partner in the his firm of 25 lawyers. Dr. Terry Rivers works at the University of South Alabama as a teacher and works in the emergency room. The Rivers also have five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Everyone is invited to attend. No gifts please.
