Judy Graham Judy Graham has made a postivie impact on Clarke County in the short time she has been here. The manager for Alabama Power's Grove Hill and Jackson offices is getting a promotion and moving to Mobile and she and her work will be missed. It wasn't long after she got to Clarke County that she put together a day-long seminar, "Extraordinary Results in Ordinary Communities," that brought people from rural areas who have been successful in specific areas to Grove Hill to show what can be done. Dr. Vaughn Grisham, a University of Mississippi professor who has studied smalltown rural development efforts- including the famous Tupelo success story- was the guest speaker. It was a big success, drawing over 300 people to town. Even better, it was a catalyst that helped boost local citizens. She's been involved in the Clarke County Development Foundation, United Way, efforts to four-lane Highway 84, local chambers of commerce and much more. Most recently, she pushed for a HIPPY program (no, not the longhaired sandal kind) for the county. "Home Improvement for Parents of Pre-School Youngsters" encourages parents to become involved in their children's education while they are still toddlers, before they ever start kindergarten. It has shown itself to be successful across the country in helping youngsters prepare for school. Alabama Power encourages its local managers to be involved and active in the communities they serve. Clarke County has been forutnate to have Judy Graham and Danny D'Andrea, who oversees the Thomasville and Butler offices. D'Andrea is working with a group to provide countywide wireless Internet service for the county, among other projects. We wish Judy Graham good luck wherever she goes. She's done a lot to help her adopted county.
Thanks, Judy!
