CCHS' Cross pre-season baseball All-American
The second annual International HS HR Derby Finals is a showcase of the 60 "power hitting prospects," representing each of the 50 states and 10 international countries. The showcase will begin at 10 a.m. at the home of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Jan. 5, 2008. The players will be welcomed on Jan. 4 with a dinner in a restaurant called the Batter's Eye, which overlooks the field. The players will then receive their jerseys with their names and state abbreviation. The representatives will receive a total of 30 outs, broken into two rounds. Each hitter will use wooden and metal bats. After all 60 have batted, the top five will advance to the championship round. Each player gets 15 outs in that round and can use either a wooden or metal bat.
