Armstead

Curtis Armstead, 85, of the Allen community of Grove Hill died Dec. 22, 2007 at the William F. Green Veteran's Home in Bay Minette.

He was born May 16, 1922. He

spent his younger

years in Richmond, Indiana where he was a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church. He was a World War II Veteran of the Army Air Force and was honorably discharged. He was employed at International Harvester in Richmond and the City of Richmond. While in Richmond, he was a member of the Elks Onyx Lodge and was also affiliated with the Masonic Order. After retirement, he moved back to Allen and joined Mount Horeb African Methodist Episcopal Church where he served as a Steward and a Trustee.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Armstead whom he married June 3, 1989; three sons, Jackie Armstead, Richmond, IN, Larry (Diane) Armstead, Yorba Linda, CA, Kim (Mitzi) Armstead, Delaware, OH; three daughters, Muneen Blanton, Atlanta, GA; Curtistine Armstead and Doris Jean Sheppard, both of Dayton, OH; five stepsons, Alfred (Ruth) Bowen and Robert (Hettie) Bowen, Richmond, IN; Henry (Gwen) Briggs Jr. and John Briggs, both of Allen; Jeffery Briggs, Topeka, KS; two step daughters, Toby Austin, Cleveland, OH, and Tannia Rile (fiance' Henry Dosey), Richmond, IN; one brother, James Bonner, Richmond, IN; two sisters, Frankie (Joe) Carter and Gertrude Carter, both of Richmond, IN; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 17 step-grandchildren; 15 stepgreat grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ellis and three sisters, Emma, Rosetta, and Louella.

Visitation will be from 12 noon until the 1 p.m. service Thursday, (today), Dec. 27 at Mount Horeb African Methodist Episcopal Church, Allen community of Grove Hill with Rev. Lewis Chapman officiating. Burial will be in the Wayman Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery in the Suggsville community. Military rites will be at graveside. Andrews Funeral Home of Jackson will direct.
