Garrett

Silas Coma Garrett, IV, 61, of Gulf Shores died Dec. 23, 2007 at an area hospital. He was born July 13, 1946, in Florence. He has lived in Gulf Shores for 16 years where he was a member of Lagoon Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Joyner Garrett, Gulf Shores; two daughters, Melanie ( John) Purvis, Foley, Emily (Brandon) Turner, Elberta; a son, Henry Garrett Presnell, Wetumpka; a sister, Pam (Charlie) Thompson, Norcross, GA; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Electra Jones Garrett and Silas Coma Garrett, III, a former Alabama Attorney General. His grandfather, the late Coma Garrett, was a longtime Clarke County probate judge.

Visitation was Wednesday, Dec. 26 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Pine Rest Funeral Home. The funeral will be Thursday, (today), Dec. 27 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Pine Rest Funeral Home with the Rev. Timothy Skipper officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Rest Memorial Park. Pine Rest Funeral Home of 16541 U.S. Highway 98 West in Foley will direct.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to Lagoon Baptist Church Building Fund; 17867 State Highway 180; Gulf Shores, AL 36542.
