Betty Lou Nichols, 77, of Jackson died Jan. 4, 2008 at a local hospital.

She was born April 13, 1930. She was a native of Catherine. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson. She was a retired seamstress and supervisor for Vanity Fair Mills in Jackson.

Survivors include three sons, Charlie Nichols, Thomasville, David Nichols, Jackson, Bill Nichols, Birmingham; one brother, Holt Garrett, Thomasville; two sisters, Edith Wilson, Adamsville, Julia Ann Gregory Slaughter, Alabaster; nine grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren.

A graveside service was Jan. 7 at 3:30 p.m. at Trinity Memorial Gardens Cemetery on the Walker Springs Road in Jackson with Dr. Tim Huie officiating. Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directed.


Annie Bell Stringer Robinson, 86, of Grove Hill died Jan. 4, 2008 at her residence.

She was born June 3, 1921. She was a member of Asbury Baptist Church. She was a retired seamstress and supervisor for Vanity Fair Mills in Jackson.

Survivors include three grandchildren, Robert Clyde (Pam) Robinson, Mary Ann Robinson (Kenny Finch), Raymond Brent (Ramona) Robinson, nieces, Frances Jackson, Jean Dameron, Jane Blanton and Carole Phipps; daughter-in-law and guardian, Mary Dell Prater, Grove Hill and other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Annie Elizabeth Hicks Stringer; husband, Harvey Clyde Robinson; one son, Earl Clyde Robinson; sister, Rennie Robinson, brother, Roland Stringer.

The service was Jan. 7 at 11 a.m. at Lathan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carey Howard officiating. Burial was in the Grove Hill Cemetery.

The family will accept flowers or friends may send donations to the Asbury Baptist Church, 4896 Asbury Road, Grove Hill, Alabama 36451.

Active pallbearers were Gerald Criswell, Tad Detlefesen, Jack Robinson, Delane Hicks, Samuel Jackson and Mabin Hicks.

Honorary pallbearers were Carlos Newton, Sammy Fendley, Alphonso Wilson, Billy Robinson, Neal Hicks, Royce Bumpers, Eddie Slayton, Larry Hicks, Charles Hicks, Buster Hough, Sonny Creighton, Perry McClure, Dennis Powell, Levon Hicks and Jimmy Knight.
