Earnest Gray, 59, of Jackson died Feb. 1, 2008 at Mobile Infirmary hospital in Mobile.
He was born Sept. 3, 1948. He was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church of Choctaw Bluff. He was a former member of the Original Golden Tones and recent member of the Purified Anointed Gospel Singers.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie Mitchell Gray, Jackson; his father and mother, Earnest and Annie Gray Sr., Birmingham; three sons, Adrian (MarQuilla) Cook, Robert (Marreen) Cook, all of Cincinnati, Ohio, Delaney (Brenda) Mitchell, Mobile; four daughters, Eola (Nathan) Smith, Pamela Cook, all of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sonja Baker, Prichard, Min. Mary Knight, Mobile; four brothers, James (Catherine) Gray, Donald Dance, all of Birmingham, Julius Gray, Mobile, Ronnie Dance, Ohio; eight sisters, JoAn Richardson, Cleveland, Ohio, Veronica (Gilbert) Hinton, Helen Toddle, Valeria (Lorenze) Jackson, Regenia Dance, Carlis Hall, Wanda Phillips, Birmingham, Charlotte (Thomas) Moody, Detroit, Mich.; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. at the New Rejoicing Full Gospel Church located at 2467 Victor Avenue in Mobile. A second viewing will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. until the 12 p.m. funeral hour at the St. James A.M.E. Church of Choctaw Bluff with Rev. Clausell Boykin officiating. Burial will be in the St. James A.M.E. Church of Choctaw Bluff Cemetery. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home will direct.
