Gilmer Davis Deas, 92, of Coffeeville died May 17, 2008.

He was born Nov. 30, 1915. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. He was retired from the Department of Transportation.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Morgan Deas, Coffeeville; two sons, Davis (Betty Ann) Deas, Coffeeville, Alton (Judy) Deas, Grove Hill; four grandchildren, Jeff (Michelle) Deas, Chandra (Darren) Deas, all of Coffeeville, Vincent (Kathryn) Deas, Demopolis, Carmen D. (Walt) Rotch, Grove Hill; nine great-grandchildren, Devin Deas, Brittney Deas, Kayne Deas, Kayden Deas, Kolten Deas, Vince Deas Jr., Bryant Deas, Lane Rotch and Owen Rotch.

The service was May 19 at 2 p.m. at New Prospect Baptist Church with Dr. William E. Whitfield officiating. Burial was in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery. Lathan Funeral Home directed.

Active pallbearers were Tommy Deas, Spence Walker, Roy Morgan, Bobby Brooks, Hank Ott and Chuck Anderson.

Honorary pallbearers were Glen Robinson, Charles Montgomery, Lefty Anderson, Glover Morgan, Thomas Ott, Alvin Montgomery, Greg Rotch, Jay Duke, Ray Sheffield and Eddie Slayton.
