Mildred Aline Johnson
Mildred Aline Johnson, wife of the Rev. J. Foy Johnson, was born September 24, 1926, in Jackson, AL, and departed this life at her home in Lakeland, Fla, on May 27, 2008. She courageously battled Parkinson's and Lewy Body diseases for over a year. She was
the second of six children born
to William "W.T." and Mary Lee. Her parents preceded her in death.
She and her husband recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary, dedicating their entire married lives to ministry, pastoring churches in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, as well as serving as Executive Leaders of the Assemblies of God churches in the Peninsular Florida District for some 24 years- she as Women's Ministries Director.
Mrs. Johnson was a modest, soft spoken, gentle and compassionate woman, trusting God in the good times as well as the bad. With a smile that radiated love, she was born for the path she chose- to be by her husband's side in ministry. Her contributions to the Kingdom are countless.
A faithful and loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to all, no one had a bigger heart or a deeper personal faith in the belief that Jesus Christ can change lives. Her gentle spirit will be sorely missed and her memory will forever live on in lives touched by her love, prayers, words of encouragement and her eternal smile.
Not for fame or reward, place or rank; not lured by ambitions, nor goaded by necessity, but in simple obedience to her calling as she understood it, she died having completed her mission well.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, the Rev. James F. Johnson; seven sons: James Johnson, Jr.; T.L. Johnson; the Rev. Joel Johnson; Michael Johnson; Howard Johnson; John Johnson; and Samuel Johnson, all of Lakeland, Fla.; one cherished daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Hale of Macclenny, Fla; sixteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; four brothers: Frank Lee, D.P. Lee, Cecil Lee, Rev. David Lee, and one sister, Ms. Marjorine Slocum.
